Holy shit, saw this on BAT. Congrats. Beautiful color. Always been curious - what happens after you win the bid with BAT? Do you just contact the seller and figure out logistics from there?

When is physical delivery expected? Must be exciting! Wish I still lived in SF, that would be an unmistakable car to see on the road.

I’ve bought and sold cars on BaT now, and the process is that BaT really isn’t involved. The seller provides proof of ownership, the parties exchange a bill of sale and the buyer sends funds. Delivery is on the parties to arrange. I have a number of friends that want to drive back, so I’ll probably fly out early July (once it’s slightly cooler I hope) and drive back, Dallas -> Vegas -> LA -> SF.

The E9 has a bored and stroked S38B35 which is running about 3.6L right now. This car has the final euro version, the S38B38 which is 3.8L. I suspect they will be pretty similar in a straight line. For the E9 it’s hard not to spin the wheels in 1st and 2nd so I am curious how that will work out on the M5 (which I think has a higher numerical rear end ratio).

Ooh very nice indeed :) I must admit there won’t be much that can beat that E9 for me, even if the M5 does end up being a little faster...
